In one way or
the other, most of us have faced the problem of having gaps develop between planks on
our floors. Thus if you have laminate or engineering floor, you will
be familiar with this problem.
It is a problem I face most often, and I will show you an easy step-by-step way you can fix this yourself for under $100!
We
face this problem mainly because laminate or engineered wood flooring
has been designed to expand and contract during seasonal changes in
weather conditions.
The floors, according to the designs, have not
been nailed to the subframe so this expansion and contraction is
common.
I
recently just found out that many face this problem too.
Hence, this article to help solve this problem.
It was terrible when I first discovered this
problem; I had gaps like an inch long on my floor. I
contacted a carpenter to come to fix it, and that cost me a lot.
So
when this started happening again, I took to the internet to find out
how I could solve the problem.
Luckily, I found a product
online made purposely for this problem.
The Floor gap fixer is the
name and solution to my floor trouble. I came across this product on
amazon.
It consists of an aluminum alloy body, a 16oz
rubber mallet, and a two-way sticky tape.

How to fix it.
To fix the flooring gap, first, clean the surfaces of the floor. Then remove the protective plastic backing on the aluminum alloy body.
The
plan is to place the aluminum alloy body on the end of the floor where the gap is and wank it with the rubber
mallet until it pulls the wooden plank to close the gap.
Do
this until the gap ends up in the baseboard closer.
Conclusion
I
found this to be cost-effective to call a carpenter to come to fix
the problem.

If you already have a rubber
mallet, there is another option.
Get a 4 by 4 wood and sandpaper on one side.
Fix a two-way sticker on the sandpaper side and
follow the same procedures discussed.
This
could be a small DIY project for you and the family.
I
hope the step-by-step approach will be of much help to you.
