My Travel To Colombia, Then This Happened

Quickly, hide in the cave! I was very frieghtened, I couldn’t feel my legs probably this might be the last day for me on earth.

A lot of chilling thoughts were running through my mind.

This was how it all happened.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, I was home bored and was just scrolling through Facebook and tiktok.

I was really depressed on that day because I had a rough week. So awful.

So there I was again laying in my couch with my phone. All of a sudden I heared a noise in front of my frontyard.

As curious as I was, I needed to put my long nose into what was happening. I went out and immediately I opened the door, I was speechless.

It was my friends, most of them I saw in years.
it was my birthday which I completely forgot about and there was a plan to give me a surprise party, organised by my best friend Griffen who lived at the other end of town.

At the party, Griffin came over to me and said he had a question for me. ‘What is your most wildest dream?’

I brushed him off and replied ‘leave me alone Griffen’ because I knew for sure he was at his usuals again to pull my legs.

He left and came back again and this time to get him to leave me, I said Colombia.

I still don’t really remember why I gave him that answer but I guess that worked out because he left me after getting that answer.

Fast forward, party was over and I was back to my life once again.

I had a call two days later while I was driving, it was Griffen. ‘Where are you?’ he asked. I told him I was driving towards home.

I reached home in the next 3 minutes or so and Griffin was there on my walkway with a beam of smile.

‘We are going to Colombia tomorrow morning’ he said.

I asked him where he has woken up from with this dream.

To my surprise he pulled out two air tickets from his backpack.
Its true we are really going to Columbia!

I couldn’t just believe it.

I quickly had to call my business partner to inform him about my latest decision to travel.

Griffen stayed over at my place for the night because our flight will take off early in the morning the following day.

We got up 3am the following day and quickly dressed up.

Our uber arrived at about half-past 3 and we were off on the road.

We were so geared up for this adventure that we forgot to thank the uber driver after dropping us off. We run like teenagers into the airport.

The plan was to pass Cancun first for a brief business meeting.

The flight took off an hour later and we were in Cancun in no time. I quickly had to run off for the meeting and was done in about 30 minutes time.

My friend was still at the airport waiting for me.

I got to the airport, had some coffee for breakfast and off we went.

Now the fun began, we took the first flight to Panama where we had to take a connecting flight from there to Medellin Colombia.

I got the window seat while Griffen got the seat next to me. The airplane took off almost half fulled. Soon we were over Medellin, the view was so spectacular!

I was so marvelled at how green the Medellin looked from the skies.

I am walking with my backpack and a side back towards the exit of the airplane and I meet this interesting woman about 6 feet tall, Ava.

Ava told me it was her first time in Medellin too and she was there to visit her boyfriend who is a tour guy.

Hallelujah! This trip is going to be an unforgettable one, I told Griffen who was way behind us.

Ava insisted we join her and her boyfriend to take a tour in Columbia together.

We headed to immigration and quickly were sorted out.

Ava’s boyfriend Raul a very nice guy, was waiting for her at the entrance of the airport.

We were escorted to a very beautiful hotel where we lodged.

The next day we were woken up by a phone call from Raul.

Our adventure is about to begin.

In about an hour time Raul and Ava will be at our hotel to pick us up. I huriedly freshen up and went straight to Griffen.

He was up and prepared long before me. Apparently, he couldn’t sleep because he was dying to tour Colombia.

With a blue short and a beach t-shirt, Griffen was all set.

At the reception, we went for a quick breakfast while we were waiting there for Ava and Raul.

Our tour guy arrieved with Ava in a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. We boarded the car and we were off, our first destination was around the Poblado area.

A very beautiful place it was, the buildings were painted with very beautiful bright colours.

The roads were lined up with beautiful palm trees.

We then drove to a parade, yes, a flower parade according to one participant we met he said ‘this parade is like a ritual to us every August’.

It was a sight to behold, the farmers were to showcase their flowers to the crowd.

They had to carry their flowers on their backs through the procession.

Dressed in their traditional outfits, both the men and the women farmers were already lined up on the road when we arrived.

The flowers were of different colours, red, blue, green, pink, yellow and a lot of other unique colours.

The crowd was huge, there was around 600,000 spectators at the parade.

It was a very beautiful parade.

I have never seen anything like that before.

I was getting hungry so we had to leave the parade before it ended to grab some lunch.

We got back to the jeep after getting some quick snacks and Raul suggested we should go on a tour. We endend up in Guatape, a city about 2 hours drive from Medellin.

The greenery was out of this world!

It was a mountainous region with spectacular views. There were this beautiful but unique domes that we rented to spend some few days at.

This was the closest I have ever been to nature. It was incredible.

The view from inside the dome was so breathtaking!

The floor was made of a beautiful wooden designs, The dome was very spacious I could say, with a king-size bed.

I never imagined in my wildest dream this was the Columbia that was always having negative publicity on the news.

The room service at the dome was superb, we had everything we wanted brought to us and the reception was top notch.

It was really an incredible experience there in Guatape. I fell asleep before I knew it because I was really exhausted for the day. It was around 7pm when I got to bed.

The beautiful melodies of the birds woke me up early in the morning for an incredible view.

I am in my bed watching the sunrise. The view was so amazing looking at it from the top of the mountain.

The melodies from the birds and the view was so magical, something I never thought I could ever experience.

I got up, got dressed and went out walking in the forest alone to have a feel of the place.

What an increadible view? I asked myself walking along the side of the mountain.

About half an hour of looking around, I run into a man, I think he is a farmer runnig and shouting something in his dialete which I didn’t understand but from the look on his face I knew there was trouble.

I turned around following him. He now said in English hide in the cave! Referring to a nearby shelter.
All I could remember was I had a sharp pain on my left leg.

I was bitten by a snake!

Luckily the man got some help and came back to rescue me. I passed out shortly after being rescued.

I thought I was dead. I woke up and saw myself being injected. I regained concoiusness after some time. My tour mates were all around with me.

I had to lay down till the next day when we had to leave back to Medellin. We packed our belongings and headed back in the Jeep we brought.

The journey began. The jeep is bumping down the road, I am in the back seat lost in the country song being played on the radio while I am enjoying the beautiful view back to Medellin.

Forty minutes into the journey, I was half asleep when I heard this sudden struggling of Raul with the steering wheel of the car.

Somethng was definetely wrong. We were all frightened in the car. Before I could say jack, we went off the road into a nearby ditch.

No one got hurt from the accident. The car was unscratched.

Soon a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction spotted us and the driver came to our rescue.

We had to join a bus heading towards Medellin while our car was towed away.

My tour in Colombia came to an abrupt end.

It was full of fun from the beginning to the end though it did not end like I planned.

I got back to the States the following day with Griffen.

We plan on going back to Medellin pretty soon to continue our exciting adventure.

Consequences of lying to kids and teenagers

‘’ Katie, go and work on your homework!’’ Katie; – Mom, I’ve already done that. Okay. I headed straight to his bedroom and then came across his school books opened. I decided to check and see if he has done the work correctly, only to find out that he hadn’t touched it yet. I guess you’ve experienced a similar thing before, and you also know how disheartening that is. When I found out that he was lying about doing his homework, it really broke my heart. I was lost for words because this was the first time he lied straight in my face. I was in disbelief and shocked. I didn’t know what to do about the situation, so I sat on his bed to process what was going on and how best I could address it. I knew the best way to deal with the situation was to let him know the consequences of lying. That will let him understand his actions and the harmful effects it is likely to have on him if he continues with them. But since it was my first time being a parent, I had to research by as...
