Today, we will be learning some new parenting hacks to make you become a better mother that your kids will always be happy with.
We all know that parenting is a challenging task to undertake, and sometimes it can really weigh down on you.
Most moms vent their frustrations and disappointments to their kids, making them sad and timid.
Being an unhappy mom makes your child timid and sad; other numerous adverse effects can also have a severe impact on your child's life, which we will be covering in another article soon.
To become an excellent mother isn't a difficult thing at all. What most parents do is look at their upbringing and identify which actions of their mothers made them happy and then which other activities also made them sad.
By identifying that, they adjust their parenting styles to suit how they wish their mother was with them.
Let's quickly dive into all the habits you'll need to become an awesome mother.
1. Be a friend;
One of the best pieces of advice I always give mothers who are finding it very difficult raising their kids is for them to be more of their kid's friend rather than just being her friend.
When you are her friend, you'll be the first person she will see worthy to open up to if she is going through hard times and good times.
You'll be amazed how she will always love to be around you and spend a lot of time with you.
2. Listen more;
This might have some similarities with the first point made. But there are differences. You can be someone's friend yet not be the one she will be willing to open up to discuss her issues with.
Avail yourself always to your child where she will see that you are always interested in knowing how things are going on with her.
Ask her questions, try and find out how her day was and whether she had fun or not.
Remember, you don't have to do it in a way that will seem like you are invading her privacy.
Make sure you find the right opportunities before asking such questions.
3. Allow kids to have fun;
Most parents give their kids a lot of tasks at home, and some force their kids to study constantly, which takes away the joy of being a child from them.
Children enjoy having fun and playing, and it is a memory they will carry on for a long time even when they grow up to become adults that matter; you'd not want to be the one overburdening them where they will lose the opportunity to be the kids they are by having fun.
Allocate a suitable time for them to play and ensure they do not have access to a smartphone, TV, or computer.
Let them play with their toys instead.
This will by far encourage them to become more creative and intelligent so that they can conquer any task ahead of them in the future.
4. Be fun and playful;
You know it is easy to cool tension at home with some sort of humor.
This can be one thing you can use to your advantage at home, and this will eventually help you earn the title of "cool mom."
You can still pull this one-off if you aren't good at telling jokes.
Some parents make funny facial expressions to lighten this at home. That is, if, for instance, you notice your kids are angry at each other and refuse to make peace, you can put on a silly face while poking them a little, which will make them burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Don't be shy about joining them when they are in a playful mood and having fun.
Sit with them and participate in their play once in a while; they will surely adore you for that.
Note that this only works for little kids.
5. Avoid comparing your kids;
"Why are you not like your sister?" or "look at your friend's grade; why can't you also be like her?" Does this sound familiar?
If it is something you are used to doing as a mother, then it is high time you stop it as soon as possible.
Kids are different, and each of them has its own unique gift. So if Jerry is good at math and your daughter isn't, that doesn't mean she is useless.
As a mother, one of the best things you can do for your child is to help her identify her talent.
Have the time and patience for her and identify what she is interested in.
That way, you can give her a helping hand to excel at what she has a passion for.
Comparing kids does nothing than kill their spirit where they will find it challenging to work on themselves in identifying their gifts, so if this is something you do, try and put an end to it quickly to save your child's future.
I hope these tips help you become the better version of yourself to help build a happy family.
