Most of us are new to these parenting things, and at times we get really confused, making some mistakes that we shouldn't be making, like diaper changes and so on.
I know it can be messy at times; that is why most of us run to the internet to find help in doing things right.
In this article, I will be tackling the problem that most new parents face, and that's the easiest way to change your baby's diaper without making a mess out of it.
Some of us learned these tips the hard way, and I know most parents will agree with me about how messy things can get at times.
So here are a few tips on how to do it right;
1. Wet wipe;
Most of us have had the experience of when trying to change our baby's diaper, and he suddenly urinates on us. If you haven't, it's coming.
This is where the wet wipe technique comes in to help you.
Before you open the diaper on your child, wipe a wet wipe across his belly, and wait for about 4 seconds to pass before proceeding to take off the diaper.
This will make the baby release any urine he might be holding into the diaper.
2. The 3-second open method;
Another way to also prevent your baby from peeing on you when taking off his diaper is to do what I call the 3 seconds method, and that is, you open the diaper for about 3 seconds and close it right back for air to do the same job the wet wipe technique also does.
Wait a few seconds, and your baby will pee before you get back to work.
3. Changing diapers;
Before you change your baby's diaper, lay down the new diaper underneath the old one he is wearing. It will eliminate any potential messes that may occur, and it also makes changing the diaper for your baby a lot quicker.
4. Distract your baby;
To prevent your baby from interrupting the diaper change with his hands, give him something to hold and play with.
This will take his attention off what is happening and make changing the diapers easy and quicker for you.
5. Blue means full;
Most new parents do not know they can actually detect when their baby's diaper is full without opening it to check.
That is the wrong way of checking if the diaper is full or not; there is an easy way to do it from the outside.
The yellow stripe in the middle of the wiper is what will let you know the current condition of the diaper. When it turns blue, thats an indication that it is full and it's time for a change.
